Own Goal Boost
Liverpool have earned their second consecutive win under coach Kenny Dalglish, defeating Fulham 1-0 courtesy of an own goal from John Pantsil at Anfield early in the second-half. The victory boosts the Reds ahead of a handful of teams in the EPL standings, up to seventh place.

Barca Final Bound
Barcelona have built up a substantial 5-0 lead in the first leg of their Copa del Rey battle against Almeria, putting one foot in the final. The Blaugrana were far too strong for the visitors with Messi grabbing a brace and Villa, Pedro, and Keita all adding to the goal fest. Spot-Kick Success
Inter and Napoli played out an entertaining draw, that somehow ended 0-0, and was decided on penalties. The Nerazzurri hit all five of their spot-kicks with Cristian Chivu converting the final one to put them through to the semis of the Coppa Italia. Lavezzi missed for the hosts...

Benzema Strikes Again
Often-maligned French striker Karim Benzema has found the winner for Real Madrid for the second-match running, scoring the lone goal in a controversial 1-0 win over Sevilla at Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan stadium. Thus, Madrid have a lead and crucial away goal after the first-leg of the Copa del Rey clash.

Talks Aborted
David Luiz's move to Chelsea looks to have fallen through after reports in Portugal emerged that negotiations for the defender have broken down. Benfica president Luis FIlipe Vieira has refused to lower the player's €25m price tag, while the Blues are reluctant to meet the demands and all talks have now been aborted.

4-Star Bayern Easily Through
2. Bundesliga side Aachen were unable to pull off an upset, being handily beaten 4-0 by Bayern Munich. Gomez began the rout in the 26th minute, while a flurry of late goals from Mueller, who bagged two, and another from Robben were more than enough to take them through to the DFB Pokal semi-finals.

Is Adebayor the right short-term solution for Real Madrid? It is clear that Real Madrid need a striker. The question of whether Adebayor is the right man for the job is not so clear.

Will he score goals with Madrid? Probably. Will he take the lead in Madrid's attacking system? Highly unlikely (Cristiano Ronaldo will not accept that). Will he cause more problems that solutions? Considering his past squabbles with team mates, it is highly likely (again, Cristiano Ronaldo appears). However, the biggest question that most of the Madrid fans ask is: Why not Morata or other canteranos? In any case, with Jose Mourinho on the bench, anything can happen, anything is possible.......................
